The Brief

I created a social media release for my Strategic Communication class at Auburn. For this social media release, my group was covering the Oakland Raiders relocating to Las Vegas. This was created right after the Raiders officially announced their move. We discussed some of their backlash they received from their Oakland fans, as well as some positives geared towards the move to Las Vegas.

An Additional Description

The Oakland Raiders were founded as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) in 1960 and joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The Oakland Raiders relocated from the American football club form its current and longtime home of Oakland, California to Las Vegas. The team is scheduled to begin play as the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2020 National Football League (NFL) season, playing home games at the Las Vegas Stadium, although the move could happen as soon as 2019. NFL team owners voted 31-3 to approve the move, which was announced at the annual league meetings in Phoenix, Arizona on March 27, 2017.

The Result

This social media release was presented in front of my class, along with a few others to make the move for the Raiders from Oakland to Las Vegas go smoothly. Our group got to choose what we wanted to do this project on, and we chose the Raiders move because it was a new, current and interesting story to cover. Not to mention, we were all huge football fans. I hope you enjoy reading my social media release and I hope it offers some insight into the new Las Vegas Raiders football team.
